After deleting old posts on his social platform X account, The Cure's Robert Smith is leaving the Elon Musk-owned social media platform.
Smith wrote on his account Sunday, "19TH JANUARY 2025. TIME TO GO. ANY OTHER ACCOUNT ON TWITTER CLAIMING TO BE ME IS A LIE. I MAY FROM TIME TO TIME BE HERE."
He then included links for his BlueSky, Instagram and Mastodon accounts, adding, "OTHERWISE I WILL LIKELY BE OUTSIDE. ONWARDS... RSX."
The most surprising thing about Smith's post probably isn't that he's leaving X — it's that the world's most iconic Goth musician would want to emerge from the shadows to spend time "outside," where he might actually get a tan.
The Cure's latest album, Songs of a Lost World — its first release in 16 years — has been a critical and commercial success, as has its single, "A Fragile Thing."
